What We Did This Weekend:
Raining Sarcasm
Another month, another drive to St. Louis and back for a temple session. There wasn't really anything all that exciting that happened this time. Unless you count seeing our adoption agent in the temple parking lot as excitement. We used to make the trip on the third Saturday of the month, but now that particular Saturday is reserved for my stake seminary teacher inservice meetings. And with Thanksgiving and our family traditions for that entire weekend, we had to go this week.
Friday night we were invited to a friends house for pizza and so they could show us this new movie. It was awesome. We totally loved it. We haven't seen many movies like this come out recently, so it really was a breath of fresh air. There was comedy, great songs, great dancing. It's destined to be a classic, no doubt. As soon as it catches on, I'm sure you'll agree with us. It's not often that we are so excited about a new show. But this one is worthy.
The cast included Gene Kelly, Donald O'Connor, and Debbie Reynolds. They were tremendous. It was a really funny show. One of those that just makes you feel good when its over. I'm not exactly sure when it was released, but since neither one of us had ever seen it, I'm sure that it had to be fairly recently. A show this fun couldn't slip by the two of us for very long. Maybe you've heard of it: Singing in the Rain? It has an awesome retro thing going for it.
I hope no one is too disappointed in us for never having seen this show. And for anyone reading that still hasn't, it's not really a new show. It was actually released in 1952. So it's been around for a while. Neither one of us can explain how we'd never seen before this weekend, but we really did think it was great.
Other than seeing a classic film for the first time, the only other thing of note that happened this weekend was our culinary effort for Sunday dinner. We tried out a new recipe for great way of preparing potatoes. It was soooo good. Someone on the Food Network or something must have just come up with it. They're calling it mashed potatoes. Crazy, right? Just kidding. We tried out a recipe for Ratatouille Polenta Bake. It turned out really good. And at only about 280 calories a serving, you really can't go wrong.
And that's what we did this weekend. Stay tuned though. There's a rumor that Brookie will be posting (gasp) a "Sharing Time" later this week.
Go to the board!

I am so disappointed in us for never showing you that. I am sorry we let you down. Thankfully, you have good replacement friends to pick up the slack. :)
ReplyDeleteThis is one of my all-time favorites. I'm so glad you finally saw it. It's worth seeing again and again...in fact, I may watch it tonight!
ReplyDeleteOh, hey! That IS a good one, and if you liked that one I have another one I saw recently you might enjoy. Something about snow... "Snowy Christmas"... no - "WHITE CHRISTMAS" like the song, that's it!
ReplyDeleteIt's got some guy in it with a pretty decent voice & kind of a funny name... Ring, or Bing, or Bong something like that. You should check that one out too! =)
@Steph
ReplyDeleteVery funny. We have seen White Christmas. We watch it every year, and love it. Bing is great, but I'm a big fan of Danny Kaye.
BTW, we've also seen The Sound of Music and The Wizard of Oz.
