Thanksgiving Day & Day After

As much as we love cooking, we haven't ever done a Thanksgiving Day at our house, so we were very grateful and very excited for some wonderful friends to join us on one of Todd's favorite holidays. We were able to have the sister missionaries, the Calls, and Imma & Liz over for the meal and we had a great time! We were most excited to make the stuffings. We hadn't made homemade stuffing before, and we made an apple/cranberry kind, and a sausage/sage kind. Yummy! I still would like to go out to eat some year for Thanksgiving, just for the fun of it. But I am not sure if we would like it very much, since we really love cooking. The only real benefit I can see would be that you would avoid the whole clean up thing...but that really isn't that bad for someone like me who loves cleaning. Crazy, I know.

The Day After Thanksgiving, we did several of our regular traditions. After feeding Savannah, we headed out to do some shopping. We perused the ads on Thanksgiving, but there wasn't really anything that we were definitely out to buy. But I still think it is fun to be out there with all the shoppers, and we did get a few things for our brothers. After the morning, we headed home to put Savannah down for a nap. While Savannah was eating lunch, Todd went to get our Christmas tree from Hy-vee. We always get real ones...a tradition that I always had growing up. While Savannah slept, we put up the tree and our Christmas decorations.

After her nap, we went back out to go get some fabric for new stockings that I am going to make. We have been enjoying using our talents as we have been preparing for this Christmas. We have also had a lot of fun thinking of some wonderful traditions that we would like to add to our other traditions, just about how to keep Christmas Christ-centered and very simple. And we are so excited to be able to share them with Savannah.

We will do a Christmas/2010 wrap-up blog post as the year comes closer to an end.

Go to the board!

  1. She is so cute! Also, I totally want to see the stocking you make. I have had fabric to make ours for about 3 years now and haven't gotten around to it... maybe seeing yours will inspire me!
