Seattle Travel Log (and Food Log...because we love to eat!)

Day 1: A successful stop at the Family History library in Salt Lake. Drove to Boise, ID. Ate at Chipotle...not as good as Cafe Rio. So, we are super frugal. But sometimes it is just worth the extra $20 for a little nicer hotel...just saying.

Day 2: Got up at 4:00am so we could have as much time with my mom as we could. A good drive, and we got there at noon. That evening we enjoyed a parade in their town.

Day 3: Father's Day! Breakfast was german pancakes. For dinner we had BBQ chicken, cheesy corn bake, watermelon, and we made two great pies: chocolate and strawberry-rhubarb. A good father's day!

Day 4: Seattle Day. My mom lives about an hour north, so we spent the whole day exploring seattle: a super fun park and fountain, the space needle (we decided to go the free version and just look up from the bottom, instead of paying to look down from the top), the monorail. Then we headed over to the waterfront for a ferris wheel ride (just Savannah and Todd), fish for dinner, and the aquarium. Then my mom took the kids home, and Todd and I took my brother, Brennan, and we all went to the Royals vs. Mariners game. And Royals won! A super great night!

Day 5: Visited a lighthouse and beach, more fish for dinner, and then played at another beach.

Day 6: Happy 11 year anniversary!! We left the kids with my mom for a couple days. We first went to the Seattle temple to do sealings. It was just us, so we got a bunch of temple work done! Then we drove to Panera for lunch, yum! Then on to Bainbridge Island. We spent a couple hours at an amazing nature reserve! It was like a ginormous luxury garden! We explored the little town and had Thai food for dinner.

Day 7: The next morning we took the ferry boat back to Seattle...super fun! We spent about 4 hours at Pike Place Market, exploring and doing a lot of eating...mac and cheese, donuts, brats, bread, horchata, tamale, and ice cream. That evening we went back to my mom's and had a salmon dinner.

Day 8: We took the kids on a ferry ride to another island and spent the day exploring there, and had clam chowder for dinner.

Day 9: A super long day driving home! My brother Brennan joined us, too. It actually went great until about the last 30 minutes, when everyone was super tired!

An awesome trip, and I was so sad to leave! It was great to spend the time with my mom. I miss her bunches. And it was just so fun to not worry about anything!
