What We Did This Weekend: T-Bones and the Temple
FYI: A Break in the Case?
Before we get to what we did this weekend, we thought we'd share some good news regarding our burglary. Our cell phone bill came today, and being the financially savvy home economists that we are (see also: cheap, cheapskates, misers, skinflints), we noticed the fact that it was about $16 more than usual. I called our service provider today, got upset with the answer I was given by the customer service rep, asked to speak with someone else, and eventually resolved the bill issue. Turns out that the turkeys that stole our stuff downloaded a few ringtones with their new phone (formerly known as Brookie's phone). I also noticed that they made over 30 calls between the time they broke in and the next afternoon when we deactivated the SIM card in the phone.
We're not sure if the phone records we passed on to the local authorities will eventually lead to the culprits or not. It's entirely possible that our love of detective dramas may have clouded our view of reality when it comes to real police work. Either way, we were both in good spirits today having found an actual lead in our case. Even so, we would be a lot more excited if we knew that Adrian Monk or Shawn Spencer were on the case. Then again, I doubt their talents would be relegated to the property crimes division.

Friday night Brookie and I went back up north to the Legends. We soon made our way to Community America Ballpark to watch a Kansas City T-Bones baseball game. The T-Bones are a great value for a night at the ballpark. Parking was free and the hotdogs are always a dollar. The grass-berm seats beyond the right field wall are perfect for families with small children. Unfortunately, we didn't bring blankets, so we sat in the outfield bleachers, which were slightly less than perfect for kids, given the gaps everywhere large enough for children to fall through. We had a great time, and we were only about 30 feet away from catching a homerun in the top of the ninth inning.
We went up a little early and had dinner at Panera Bread before the game. We also stopped at a few stores as we continued to search for clothes that fit. And, speaking of shopping, our insurance claim check came today, so hopefully we'll be replacing our stuff soon. For you, that should mean fewer post without pictures.
Saturday we took the entire day and went to the temple in St. Louis. It was great, as usual. We're very excited for when we have a temple here in Kansas City, but when that day comes, the challenge will be making temple attendance a priority. It's easy to schedule and set apart a day for temple worship when it's a three-and-a-half hour drive each way. But when the temple is only 20 minutes away, it could become something that we try to squeeze into our busy schedule instead of dedicating time for that purpose.
On the way back from St. Louis, we stopped for some Quesadilla Burgers at Applebee's. A bit farther down the road, we stopped again at the outlet stores in Warrenton, MO for some more shopping. We both found some good stuff and we're nearing the completion of our wardrope replacement project. We finally got home just over 13 hours after we left. It was a long day, but temple days are good days.
And that's what we did this weekend. Don't forget to check the magnet board for this week's menu and the comment of the week.

I'm still gushing with love for Firefox.
ReplyDeleteMark and I will have to take the kids up to A T-bones game, that sounds fun. And nearby shopping means fun for the whole family.
What does Tilapia taste like? Is it really fishy? Or is it more like Halibut? I am very particular about my fish.
ReplyDeleteWe're glad to hear you have a lead and might get your stuff back. Adrian Monk to the rescue!
ReplyDelete@Weston: Tilapia is very good. Brookie doesn't particularly care for fish, but she really likes this broiled parmesan recipe (I've added a link below). It's not very fishy-tasting either. Otherwise, she probably wouldn't eat it.
ReplyDeleteHello, I'm Shawn Spencer and this is my partner Slapshot Garbo (or Maria Lecherande.
ReplyDeleteMake your own nickname at http://www.usanetwork.com/series/psych/games/nicknamegenerator/
hmm... I think I can make my own nickname without a generator, Shawn Spencer. But thanks away.
ReplyDeleteTodd and Brooke, glad to hear you found a lead in your case. Even if your stuff is long gone, it would be nice to put those crooks behind bars and prevent them from robbing someone else.
Glad you had a good time at the temple!
@Cortney: I agree with Becca. I don't need no stinkin' web app to help me come up with a nickname.
ReplyDeleteBesides, I gave it a try and my magically generated nickname was just "Todd." Not cool.
