What We Did This Weekend: Mixed Bag
There wasn't really one thing I could point to this week and say, "this was the main highlight of our weekend." It was just kind of a mixed bag, but we had quite the fun-filled weekend.
Before we get to the weekend stuff, we'd like to give props to the wonderful sisters in our ward that took time Tuesday afternoon to sneak over to our house and finish the bags that Brookie had been working so hard on for Girls camp. We couldn't have done it without you. The look on her face when she found out what you had done was truly priceless. We both cried some happy tears that afternoon knowing that we had one less thing to stress about. Here's a picture of the finished products:
Friday night was the Elders Quorum's second attempt at a monthly volleyball date night. The first attempt was about six months ago and there were only two couples that showed up. We could have played two on two I guess, but no one brought a ball. This time there were three volleyballs and 11 people that came. Brookie sat on the stage and the rest of us got in four or five games before we left for dinner at Culver's.
Saturday morning was our first trip to the River Market farmer's market of the summer. We really love that thing. We grabbed some freshly baked pita bread and some spices from the middle eastern vendor, and some strawberries and blueberries from one of the many people selling produce. When we went, we took along our friend's camera. We were taking it for a test drive to help us do a little market research before using some of our insurance money to replace our digital camera. We thought it took some great pictures:
Unfortunately for any of you that might like to see pictures of us, we only take pictures of other people, places, and things. Speaking of which, here's a shot of one of the Friday-night volleyballers:
After we left the farmer's market, we drove and got a little lost looking for Zona Rosa. It's a shopping area north of Kansas City. Once we found it, we were pretty impressed. If you haven't been up there, it's kind of like a cross between the Legends and Downtown Lee's Summit. We bought a ton of stuff at Old Navy, thanks to their "All Mens 50% Off" Sale. We walked around the area a little bit after that, and just enjoyed being outside in nice weather.
Saturday night was a real treat. We had some friends over for tacos and then went with them to the movies to see Disney-Pixar's "Up." We loved it, of course. We're suckers for animated family shows. Leaving the theater I thought how nice it was to leave a show actually feeling happier and "up"-lifted. Great show. See it, if you haven't.
Sunday we went to church, came home and made a great Spinach Strawberry Salad, and some imitation Jack Stack Cheesy Corn Bake, and took our sides to a friends house for dinner. We both ate a little more than we should have, thanks to the huge burgers they were cooking up. But it was really fun to eat and hang out with some of our good friends.
And that's what we did this weekend.

On a sad side note, we found out today that our Bally's gym is being shut down next Tuesday. We're going to have to find somewhere else to go now, since the closest Bally's is over 25 minutes away.
Go to the board!

So what brand and model is the camera you test drove?
ReplyDeleteWe tested out a Nikon D40, and Brookie liked it because she had a nice Nikon 35mm SLR before it was stolen, so this DSLR felt familiar. We ended up going with a factory refurbished Nikon D60. It should be here Thursday or Friday.
