What We Did This Weekend:
Temple Trip

Sometime you just don't want to leave a tip for a young adult who has trouble remembering to refill your water, and gave you a dirty look when you asked for water instead of wine with your meal. At times like that, we have a few standbys to resort to, one of which is where we had dinner on Friday night, Panera Bread. For you Utah folks, it's a little like Paradise Cafe, but not as big, and not as cafeteria style.

After dinner, we had to get home to watch the Olympics, of course. We have thoroughly enjoyed the Olympics this year. For us, the first week was better. Maybe we just prefer swimming to track, but I think it had more to do with the coverage. The swimming was mostly live, so NBC couldn't just show us what they wanted to show us. The track broadcasts were usually tape delayed, and it showed. It was a fun ride for two weeks, but I'm looking forward to using our Netflix in the evenings again.

Saturday was our day to go to the St. Louis temple. Before we moved from Utah, we would usually cram a temple visit in before lunchtime. After all, there were multiple temples around the valley. But now, we plan an entire day around it (and budget for food and gas accordingly). It makes the trip a little more special. But, it also makes for less-than-thrilling What We Did This Weekend posts.

We left the house at about 7:45am and headed East on I-70. It was smooth driving until five miles before our exit, just outside of St. Louis. We ran into some construction and it took about 45 minutes to go the last five miles on the interstate. Lucky for us, we had our Harry Potter CD to keep us company. We're somewhere in the middle of book five now, The Order of the Phoenix. Good stuff.

After a great session at the temple, we stopped at Culver's for a late lunch (nothing beats a ButterBurger), before getting back on the interstate heading back to Kansas City. Of course, before we made it too far from St. Louis, we hit some more traffic due to a accident a few miles up the road. Oh well. More Harry Potter for us.
