Arizona Sun

We took a fun family vacation to Arizona in March. We were all really excited; we can't remember the last time we took a vacation...just to vacation.

We left on a Friday and made it to Zion National Park for a picnic lunch and a great hike! Whenever we go hiking as a family Savannah is always a little whiny at first, and the case was true at Zion. But pretty soon she was hiking like crazy! We hiked up to a waterfall, which Savannah loved playing in. Jackson liked his ride too, so he could nap. We drove a couple more hours to Page, Arizona and stayed the night there.

The next morning we drove to the Grand Canyon. I hadn't been there since I was a little girl, and Todd hadn't ever been. As we were driving into the Grand Canyon, we gave Jackson some snacks, and he ended up spilling the bag all over him, which was full of snack powdery stuff...He was a mess! We were pretty spontaneous and even rented bikes to ride along the trail next to the canyon! It was amazing! I think that was our favorite part of the trip (for Todd and I anyway). Jackson ended up falling asleep in the little trailer hooked onto Todd's bike. Then we drove the rest of the way to Phoenix, where we found a great pizza shop for dinner.

We used Airbnb to find a place to stay...we thought it would be great...but it was less than awesome. Oh well. On Sunday we went to church, and then walked all around the Mesa Temple and Visitor's Center in the evening. We also drove by the Gilbert Temple, which is gorgeous! On Monday we went hiking again, and drove to some amazing lookout points on the south side of Phoenix. It was so hot! So that afternoon we found a great spray park that the kids loved! And then tacos for dinner and frozen yogurt for dessert.

The next day...more hiking, more tacos, and the Royals Spring Training game. It was also so hot, but really fun to be there! After the game (we left a little early), we drove about three hours to our friends' the Bauman's house.

We stayed with the Bauman's for a few days and enjoyed playing at the park a few times, eating more tacos, the world's best shaved ice, and just hanging out! Savannah loved playing with their kids and jumping on the trampoline! That was her favorite part of the trip! We were all sad to go.

On the way home, we stayed again in Page, and put our feet in Lake Powell...but Savannah and I both ended up super muddy! We were sad to end our excursion, but it was a great adventure!
