December 2011
Sorry we haven't blogged in awhile. December busyness. Some highlights of December included:
•Bell Ringing. We tried one night to do bell ringing but got there a few minutes late, so we had to do it another night. It was chilly and windy, but super fun! Savannah was definitely the key to people donating. Who could deny this face?
•Making tons of pumpkin butter and mini loaves of bread.
•Going to Michaels and Hobby Lobby about a million times (more on that later).
•Visiting Santa (twice). We went to Santa at the mall, and she did great.
•Celebrating Christmas with Imma. Since we were going out to Utah for Christmas, we celebrated with Imma before we left. We had dinner and opened presents. We found out that night that Savannah is afraid of little stuffed animal dogs, and rocking horses.
•Utah Trip and Christmas. Last Christmas we had decided that we would go to Utah this Christmas, because this was Todd's youngest brother, Marc's, last Christmas before his mission. Marc is going to Guatemala at the end of March. We left on December 23rd and stayed until January 4th. It was a great trip!
On our way out we stopped at our favorite place in the Denver Airport called It'z A Wrap, and then also visited Santa. Who knew Santa would be in the Southwest Terminal taking pictures?
While in Salt Lake we did some shopping, tons of visiting with cousins, aunts, uncles, and grandparents, and of course, lots of eating out at our favorite places like: Zupas, Cafe Rio, Rumbi Island Grill, and the Lion House. All the Reynolds Girls' (1 Mom and 3 daughters-in-law) went to the Lion House for lunch together. That was really fun! I don't think we have done something just us girls together. We should make it a tradition! What do you think? Only one more girl to add to the family! But we'll have to wait a couple more years for her.
On Christmas eve, we had a nice dinner at Mom and Dad's with the family, then opened PJ's. We enjoyed hearing the Christmas story via the Church's new Bible Stories app. It was nice to read the scripture story, and be able to watch the accompanying videos at the same time.
Christmas morning we opened presents and ate Christmas crown. Now the reason for the million trips to the craft store. My favorite gift that I gave was a Family Home Evening kit for my sister-in-law, Missy. Todd made a super great sign for the family home evening assignments. But it took us multiple trips to come up with the idea for the sign. We thought about everything from pegs, to hooks, to magnets, and everything in between. In the end, we found magnetic paint, and it worked great, and looked awesome! I made her a resource basket. I picked one theme for each month, and then chose songs, activities, a treat, and lesson resources for each theme. It was a lot of work, but so fun! Missy is super creative and talented, so I was so excited to get to do something fun for her.
My favorite present was from my sweetheart. I have been asking him to draw me a picture of the Savior for a long time. He never wanted to because he didn't think he could do it well enough. So that is what he gave me for Christmas, and I love it! You'll have to come see it!
It was so nice to have Christmas on Sunday so we could go to church. After church and nap, we went to my Grandma & Grandpa's in Alpine for a nice dinner.
The rest of the trip included a temple trip, more visiting, and tons of overeating. And we were glad that Savannah got in lots of playing with her cousins.
One of the main highlights of the trip was being able to go through the Temple with Marc. I know that Mom was so happy to have all four of her boys in the temple at once. It was a blessing to be there with all Todd's brothers/wives, and Mom and Dad. We are so proud of Marc. He was 11 years old when we got married, and we have loved to watch him grow up. Before we moved to KC, we loved hanging out with Marc. We are so proud of the man he has become. We know he will be a fabulous missionary in Guatemala, and he is so looking forward to his mission.
We hope you had a very Merry Christmas! And we wish you a super happy new year!
