October Pictures, Pumpkins, and Dress Up
Earlier in October we tried to get some family pictures for adoption paperwork. Our friends were super sweet to help us out, and did a great job. There was just one little problem...Miss Grumpy Head:
Things improved slightly, and temporarily, when she found a super cool rock:
We went to get pumpkins in Louisburg, Kansas and, since it was so far, we couldn't go home to get the cameras we had left there. Oh well! We got some good porch pictures when we got back.
A side note about the pumpkins. A week or so ago, we were going to have "The Great Pumpkin Slaughter of 2011." (Each year we process our pumpkins so we can enjoy fresh pumpkin muffins, pancakes, and soups all year.) Unfortunately, that turned into just processing one pumpkin. Now we still have several in the basement waiting. Thanks to a friend's tip off, we doubled our supply with Wal-Mart's $1 pumpkins after Halloween.
For Halloween this year we chose Star Wars. I am not a big (or at all) Star Wars fan, but Savannah's obvious costume for this year was an Ewok. She is the perfect height, walking just the right way, and jabbering up a storm. And she was the best Ewok ever! The costume part is actually a sea otter that we found for a good deal online, and then we just tucked the tail in. Then I made the hood part with some fabric and twine. Super easy and fun!
We went to "Boo at the Zoo," and people just thought she was so funny! Her favorite part of the costume was the stick, of course. When we asked what Grandpa (or Pop Pop as Savannah can say now) would like for Christmas, he said an Ewok. That's easy!
It has been a pretty mild fall. Yeah! So Savannah and I have been going on lots of nature walks, her favorite thing. We raked up some leaves, and here she is in the pile.
On a personal note: I was recently released from young women's. I served in that calling for a long time, and my heart was attached to those girls. It has been so sad! It is a ton of work, working with the youth, but how the Lord has molded and shaped me. I am so grateful for his tender mercies in allowing me to stay in as long as He did. It was such a blessing to be able to share testimony with the Young Women about the Gospel of Jesus Christ. It was such a blessing to be in the presence of their sweet and strong spirits so often. They come from amazing families that are teaching them well, and it was a joy to learn from them. I am so thankful that the Lord directs His work, and that He continues to lead His young women with new, amazing leaders. The work continues! Have a super great weekend!
Go to the board!
